Section 1 — What An Atomic Clock Actually Is

"An atomic clock is a precision instrument that counts the oscillation cycles of atoms stimulated to transition between specific energy states. The most common type uses cesium-133 atoms. The instrument applies microwave radiation at a specific frequency to stimulate those atoms, counts how many oscillation cycles occur, and converts that count into a time value. The international definition of one second is currently defined as 9,192,631,770 oscillation cycles of the cesium-133 atom under specific controlled conditions. The atomic clock counts those cycles and produces a reading."

The airborne clocks returned different readings than the ground clocks. Institutional science interpreted this result as physical confirmation of Einstein's time dilation predictions from Special and General Relativity. They are observations of repeating natural phenomena that humans organized into a consistent measurement framework. Every ancient civilization arrived at roughly the same framework independently because they were all observing the same natural cycles directly."
